Driver Medicals

Drivers medical is an assessment that consists of eye sight examination using Snellen chart, Blood pressure checks and questionnaires about your medical history all to ensure you meet the DVLA group 2 standard.

To apply for or renew a Group 2 licence, a D4 medical assessment must be conducted by a doctor registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).

A completed medical form is valid for four months from the date it is signed and dated by the doctor. It must be submitted and processed through the DVLA within this period, or else it will expire, requiring you to book and pay for a new medical assessment.

Taxi Medicals

Unlike standard D4 medicals result determined by DVLA, Taxi medicals are determined by doctors based on medical standards set by the local licensing authority.

The validity of the Taxi medical depends on the local authority you are applying for.

You can get Taxi medical forms directly from your local authority website. The UK government website also provides a list of all councils for easy access. You can visit the site and select your council:

Forklift Medicals

While it is not a legal requirement, it is recommended that anyone operating a forklift undergoes a medical assessment to ensure they are fit for the job.

A forklift medical includes an examination similar to Drivers Medical  assessment, but with additional evaluations for upper limb functionality, a forced whisper test for hearing, and a urine test.

Once you pass the medical assessment, you will receive a certificate of fitness. This certification also ensures compliance with DVLA Group 2 standards.

Airside Medicals

The Airside medical includes an examination similar to the Drivers Medical assessment, adhering to DVLA Group 2 standards. Additionally, it incorporates the Ishihara Colour Blind Test and the Forced Whisper Test to evaluate color vision and hearing.

Typically, the Airside medical needs to be renewed every three years. However, this may vary based on factors such as the age limits of the vehicle you are operating, your current health status, and whether you have been involved in any driving accidents or incidents at work.

The Airside medical will be conducted by one of our GMC-registered doctors. These doctors are specifically trained in assessing fitness to drive according to the standards set by the DVLA
